Please don’t let this be a jinx but … OMG The Blue Jays are in First!! #GOJAYSGO #bluejays #baseball

Not only are the Toronto Blue Jays in first place in the AL East, but they have been for a while and they are dominating. Double E is bombing everywhere like he’s Outkast in Baghdad. Pitchers haven’t been struck down yet and holy crap Jose Reyes hasn’t mangled something on the way to batter’s box. I know it’s only May but damn I never thought they would be here now anyways.

Jeter Season Begins! Also I went to The Toronto Blue Jays home opener!

This week/weekend was crazy busy. Between Mania week, March Madness wrapping up and some personal milestones to knock out, not to mention Spider-Man news all over, Baseball’s opening week was almost an after thought.

I can’t let that happen. This is the #farewellcaptain year the #seasonofjeter the #jeterwatch2014 the… you get the picture. Derek Jeter is retiring and as a 90s Yankees Dynasty fan,…

My Spring Training Odyssey - I have never seen a game in the spring in Florida or Arizona. But I came close in 1990.

I have been to countless regular season games and and a bunch of post-season games, not just in Toronto or New York either. But I have NEVER ever seen a pre-season MLB baseball game … at a Spring Training facility. With Spring Training wrapping up, I figured now’s the last chance to post an article I’ve delayed doing for 5 years or so.

Yes, I have seen a few pre-season games, a couple at the…

@joeybats19 #Homer in first AB of #springtraining and I kinda of make a big deal out of it.

Three batters into the game @joeybats19 clubbed a long shot off a Roberto Hernandez pitch out of the yard to begin Spring Training and immediately give me something to cheer about. He liked it too, I assume.

“It felt pretty good, I can’t deny that. More importantly I felt like I was seeing the ball great. I haven’t been playing for a while so that’s a positive.”

Photo: It’s the New Blue Jays, in Uniforms!

It’s official - Johnson, Reyes, Buehrle Jays uniforms are here!

Jays - Marlins blockbuster trade!! Franchise changing!! Josh Johnson and Mark Buehrle with Ricky Ro!!

Yunel and Adeiny gone, no like .. Jose Reyes well that’s a nice replacement!

New Beast in the East

The Blue Jays could trade catcher JP Arencibia or some of their depth at starting pitcher, but even if they don’t make another move during the offseason they look formidable going into next season. Here is a look at their potential 2013 opening day lineup and starting rotation:

SS - Jose Reyes
CF - Colby Rasmus or Emilio Bonifacio
RF - Jose Bautista
DH - Edwin Encarnacion
1B - Adam Lind
3B - Brett Lawrie
C - Travis d’Arnaud or John Buck
LF - Rajai Davis
2B - Maicer Izturis

Josh Johnson, RHP
Mark Buehrle, LHP
Brandon Morrow, RHP
Ricky Romero, LHP
Kyle Drabek (RHP)/Drew Hutchinson (RHP)/JA Happ (LHP)/Aaron Laffey (LHP)

The Blue Jays still need to hire a new manager, but whoever gets the call (Manny Acta? Sandy Alomar Jr.? Dave Martinez?) is going to have a beast of a team. Somewhere John Farrell and Tito Francona are kicking themselves.

Meanwhile the Yankees may want to rethink their plans to lower payroll below the luxury tax line, and the Red Sox just became the red-headed stepchild of the division.

Oh my gawd look at that rotation! Remember what happened last time we had a blockbuster!!

Lunchbox 45 Travis Snider may have left T.O., but that won’t stop me from rooting for my favorite Jays #1 potential prospect of the 2010s. I mean I still mark out for Halladay…

As a Pirate … umm insert dumb sports anchor cliche about stolen treasure or loot or something. Basically Trav goes up the fence and miraculously takes a homerun away.
